Since 2015, there exists a municipal second-hand market "48er-Tandler" in Margareten.In mid-2022, a branch opened in the north of Vienna to offer the local population an attractive range of products. The interactive digital training system ASTriD is a new therapeutic service for geriatric patients. ASTriD promotes health literacy and self-empowerment of older people with the help of digital media. The project has been running successfully for about 1 year at the Albert Schweitzer Klinik and improves the quality and efficacy of the inpatient treatment. +

The project aims to fully digitize the process from placing an order to paying an incoming invoice at TU Graz. With the broad involvement of users, their working environments are perceived and understood and solutions are worked out together, which in the best case find their way into everyday work without resistance. +

For three years now, meals not served at the St. Peter elementary school in Graz – 7 to 20 kg per day – have been passed on to an asylum district. This way, valuable food is used sensibly and waste is avoided and the residents of the asylum get warm and healthy meals.

The newly created traffic department is working to prepare a holistic concept for mobility, which needs to be based on accurate and and current data for traffic flow through the village. Master data is used in all applications of the federal ministry of finance, e.g. tax return, child benefits. The smart master data search supports data cleansing and the data quality. Notices are delivered correctly, queries and appeals are significantly reduced.

The project "Intelligent Road Management in Lower Austria" enables digital processing from the application to the approval of temporary traffic obstructions such as sports events, construction sites or other special uses on roads in Lower Austria. The digital logistics platform developed by the Vienna Social Fund for the City of Vienna's COVID-19 task force ensures the supply of personal protective equipment and test kits for health and social care facilities as well as critical infrastructure. In the participatory strategy process "Future Health Promotion", we used survey methods and target group-oriented methods to collect the opinions and expertise of the population, stakeholders and political representatives on the future of health promotion in Austria. Based on their different perspectives, high impact measures for a stronger anchoring of health promotion in Austria were defined. +
All six municipalities in the “Retzer Land Climate Model Region” have jointly built 15 photovoltaic municipal power plants with 500 kWp. The special thing about it: the facilities were financed through the participation of their own citizens! One of the largest PV public participation campaigns in the country was thus implemented by the municipalities, from which everyone benefits. +
The aim of this pilot project is to test a hydrogen bus under real conditions in order to gain experience for the complete conversion of line 39A to hydrogen propulsion. This line is to be converted to hydrogen in 2023 with 10 buses. Experience is to be gained with regard to refuelling and operation under real and non-simulated conditions. +

Development of Virtual Reality (VR) trainings for employees of nursing and care. On the one hand, the KWP is testing a software for VR glasses that makes it possible to create individual trainings and on the other hand, there is a cooperation with an HTL, where students create VR trainings on specific topics. The project has not yet been submitted for an award. +
From November 2019 to June 2020, a pilot project of video interpreting in kindergartens and schools was started for the first time in Austria in order to improve communication between guardians and the school and thus strengthen the educational partnership. Two kindergartens in Lower Austria as well as an elementary school and a new middle school in Vienna took part. +
Since March 2022, it has also been possible to have personal contact with the tax office via video conference. This saves customers the trip to the tax office. Through the secure identification and authentication, participants can not only discuss general, but also very individual information about their specific tax file. +

In order to ease the burdens that are linked with social distancing due to the current pandemic, talks with trained employees of the „Pensionist*innenklubs“ are offered. The VHP closes the gap between impact orientation, budget planning and strategic control and it allows ongoing target controlling. The project „FSW-KundInnen-Rat“ is focusing on needs and expectations of customers with disabilities at Fonds Soziales Wien. At the elections held in Autumn 2020 nearly 9.000 customers were called to vote one out of 34 candidates, who are all customers their selves. The panel now advises FSW in matters of working with people with disabilities and supports in developing and creating new services. +

The program “Wien gibt Raum” (engl. “Vienna provides space”) focuses on the use of public space.
Urban public space is like a modern city’s calling card: locals spend a significant part of their daily lives in public areas, and for visitors, public space makes up a major share of the city’s special flair and ambiance. At the same time, public spaces are expected to meet a variety of different, often conflicting needs and interests. City administrations are faced with the task of providing an adequate legal and organisational framework for these needs and interests. In this context, it is important to keep public spaces usable and freely accessible while at the same time guaranteeing safe, speedy and smooth traffic flow. This is an important factor in keeping Vienna the most livable city in the world.
Against the backdrop of this challenge, the City of Vienna decided to launch a new public space management programme termed “Wien gibt Raum”. The programme aims to reorganise the distribution of tasks and responsibilities for official permits and the management of objects and activities in public space. Internal administration processes are restructured; at the same time, users are provided with a new customer interface in the form of a (digital or physical) one-stop shop, which is based on customised software solutions. Moreover, the entire legal framework for official permits regarding public space is evaluated and modernised where necessary. The basis for many steps taken for “Wien gibt Raum” is provided by comprehensive surveying of all objects and structures currently found in public areas. +
WienBot - AI chatbot against Covid-19 disinformation
The City of Vienna used its digital assistant “WienBot” during the COVID 19 pandemic as an important information channel for crisis communication. By using artificial intelligence and interfaces to public, central data sources, continuously updated and verified information could be guaranteed. +
The climate crisis is a major challenge for democracies and city governments. It requires: new processes and structures, new forms of participation, collaboration and inclusion. The Vienna Climate Team was developed to respond and find answers to some of these new challenges. It is a governance innovation initiative in climate and participation, building on the concept of participatory budgeting. +
The goal of the City of Vienna is to be climate neutral by 2040. The solar power initiative is accelerating the energy transition and reducing Vienna‘s dependency on fossil fuels by ensuring the greatest possible use of solar power on public and private roofs, facades or already sealed surfaces. +
